Employment and Training
The best way to integrate the disabled is by helping them find employment.
That is the reason why integration at work is currently the Fundación ONCE's top priority.
Since it was founded, the Fundación ONCE has collaborated with the public administration, businessmen, individuals and associations for the disabled in the development of programmes and projects geared towards providing professional qualifications and gaining access to the labour market for the disabled. This is done through training and the creation of stable jobs.
The creation of work posts at Fundación Once, (more than 50,000 since it was founded), is done in the following ways: •Companies of the Fundosa Group (a holding company belonging to the Fundación ONCE). • Agreements with other companies and bodies. • Intermediating in the ordinary local labour market. • Occupational posts. • Self-employment. The Fundación ONCE has placed a wager on quality employment and favours equal opportunities for disabled women, people suffering from handicaps exceeding 65 per cent, young disabled people, disabled people above 45 years of age and people who, in addition to being disabled, are going through personal and social situations that make it difficult for them to enter the labour market.

The Fundación ONCE's training model is a key element in each user's entry to the labour market. It is based on an extensive knowledge of each group's characteristics and needs, as well as experience and continual analysis conducted on the labour market's trends and needs.
All training actions are approached from an integrated perspective.
This not only aims to provide people with the knowledge and skills needed to receive proper professional training, but also makes an effort to develop the most suitable capacities and attitudes to ensure the disabled are fully integrated.
With this approach to training, the Fundación ONCE has provided more than 3,000 training courses to about 35,000 students.
Initiatives to Improve the Quality of Employment
One of the most recurrent limitations detected among the group of disabled people seeking employment are the low levels of qualification many job seekers have. This deficit has a two-fold effect.
On the one hand, it destins people to low-paid and tedious work and, on the other, it conditions their possibilities of entering the labour market. That is why the Fundación ONCE takes initiatives aimed at improving the professional qualifications of employees and the unemployed by promoting continuing and occupational training courses. |
